Daycare Conversation 12/6/07

The following conversation was relayed to me this morning when I dropped Bree off at daycare. Yesterday the daycare center was undergoing an audit by their corporate licensing staff.

Licensing Lady notices Bree in her crib, napping. Bree is sleeping on her side.

Licensing Lady: "How was this baby put in this crib?"

Miss Jill: "On her back. She is old enough to roll over by herself."

Licensing Lady: "THIS baby is old enough to roll over by herself?"

Miss Jill: "Yes, Bree is actually mobile."

Licensing Lady: "THIS baby is MOBILE?"

Miss Jill: "Yes, she's actually walking. She'll be a year old later this month."

Licensing Lady: "THIS baby? THIS baby right here is WALKING?"

Miss Jill: "Yes. THAT baby is walking. She's almost 1."

Licensing Lady: Staring at Bree in her crib. "Huh. She's just a little peanut."

Mistaken for a newborn at 11 months! I had to laugh when they told me that.

She's not ready to be moved to the Toddler room - that will happen when she's around 15 months, or if there's a need to allow an infant in the infant room. But her providers in the infant room already told me that they want to keep her there as long as possible, they all just love her too much. I will, however, have to put my foot down if she's still in the Infant room when she turns two.
