15 Month CheckUp & Other News

Well, we're s l o o o o w l y inching towards 20 pounds! (Not that 20 pounds is any kind of "magical" number, but that's when it will be safe to turn Bree around in her car seat. Children today have to be at least one year old and at least 20 pounds before they can safely face forward in the car. Bree isn't especially fond of her car seat, and if she could look out the windows, the ride might be a bit more interesting for her. So that's why I'm looking forward to her hitting the 20 pound mark.)

At 15 months, Bree is:

  • 17 pounds, 6 ounces

  • 27 1/2 inches tall

There's growth - Bree is still on her own curve, but the doctors are pleased with her progress.

Last weekend I took her to an indoor play center for children, and while I did get the inevitable question: "How old is she?" I was pleasantly surprised by the reply: "Wow - she is FAST!" instead of "Wow - she is SO SMALL!" Bree was running all over the play room, often at top speed, and often dragging something along with her.

In other news - Scott has a new job these days, and it take him out of town for most of the month. He was home on a long weekend this past weekend, and Bree can't seem to reconcile the fact that her DaDa is here, in the flesh, as opposed to the computer or in the pictures on the mantle. She's working it all out, though. We went to the aqarium on Sunday and had a wonderful time. She LOVES to watch the fish, and even blows them kisses. She's interested in the sea turtles, but really isn't into the sharks.

And that's about all that's been going on lately. I do have some pictures to post and will do that when I have a chance. That girl wears me out, and after I put her to bed, I try to catch up on everything before I conk out! Have patience - pictures coming soon!

Chillin'

Well, well, well. Times, they are a changin'. Bree is finally getting the hang of sitting down in her chair to watch tv (Jeopardy!) instead of using it as a means to climb onto other furniture. I love the way that she's all "lounging" about in her chair.

Bree has always liked watching Jeopardy! I think it has to do with the sound effects that they play for the daily doubles, and the music that they play for final jeopardy. But then again, she might just have a crush on Alec Trebec. She is mesmerized by him when he's on.

Just another quiet night here. Bath @ 7, Jeopardy! @ 7:30, bottle @ 7:45, and bedtime at 8 p.m. Lately, though, she's been in bed between 7:30 and 7:45 because she's just been exhausted. (I LOVE the warmer weather - she gets outside playtime TWICE a day now at daycare.)

Stay tuned for further developments . . . . a vocabulary update is on the way . . .

Bree's New Sport: Extreme Vaccuuming

So, Bree decided that she was going to embark on a new endeavor this evening while I was vaccuuming - a sport that I've dubbed "extreme vaccuuming" because most of the activity involved wrapping the cord around her neck and waiting for me to "pull" her down.
Needless to say, I wouldn't play along. I can't claim to know (at age 37) what goes on in the mind of a one year old, but apparently this seemed like great fun to her.
Step 1: Get a great hold on the cord and wrap it around your body.
Step 2: Follow the vaccuum cleaner!

Step 3: If the cord slips out of position, grab it. But always keep one hand on the pacifier!

Step 4: Make sure your mom sees you putting this around your neck! You'll get LOTS of attention that way!

Step 5: Mom refuses to move the vaccuum while you're "playing." Game over.

I greet each day with a mix of anticipation and dread. She's so much fun - but she LOVES danger. At 14 months she's already showing signs of being an adreneline junkie. Heaven help me!

Spring Has Sprung!

Spring has sprung in our neck of the woods, and we took the opportunity to play some more outside before dinner. (Also known as "wearing the little girl out so she SLEEPS!")

This stick is bigger than Bree, but she weilds it like a pro.

Bree in action - notice the lovely orange netting still up - that's right - two months, no progress!

Bree is listening so well as I call her to come to me so we can go in the house and eat.

Bree is very much into sharing things these days. Including garbage that she finds laying outside.
