9 Month Checkup

Nine months old already!? Where did the time go? Well, here are the statistics:

Weight: 13 pounds, 13 ounces

Height: 24 inches

Yep, she's a peanut! In the 2nd/3rd percentile for weight & height. But she's perfectly proportional and healthy, so the doctor isn't all that concerned. Bree is just going to be a petite girl.

My voice is big! Like Ethel Merman's!

Bree is bringing herself to a standing position, cruising along furniture, and will likely be walking soon. The doctor noticed Bree doing this in the office, and commented that Bree will likely be a handful for us. I assured her that Bree already was a handful!

Bree crawled over to the doctor and the doctor's quilted medical bag. Bree put her hand on the bag, looked up at the doctor and smiled, then shoved her little hand into the bag to play with the doctor's instruments. The doctor was DELIGHTED. She said, "Look at how clever she is! She distracted me with a big beautiful smile, and then grabbed what she wanted!" We'll see how cute that is when it's my wallet that she's reaching for and taking out money!

Bree is eating regular food now, and so far we haven't come across anything that she doesn't like. For some reason, beef makes her throw up - not sure what that's about, anyone else hear of other babies having a reaction to beef? She loves rice, chicken, sweet potatoes, stuffing - not all at the same time, I should add.

The doctor commented on how swollen Bree's upper gums were, and pointed out that it looks like 4 (FOUR!) teeth are coming in at the same time on top. Wonderful! I already get a minimum of two incident reports a week, just with Bree injuring herself - now I'll get more for her biting other kids . . . . she REALLY wants to gnaw on everything, all the time!

She is perfectly healthy, just small, and too smart for her own good. And THAT is all a mom & dad could ask for!
